Blue Karma Seminyak
It's comforting to land in a new country and immediately feel like you're taken care of, which is why I was happy that we booked a ride from the airport through our hotel before our arrival. The price was affordable, our driver greeted us with a sign with our name on it and he even gave us cold water bottles for the ride! So far, so good!
The Blue Karma Hotel in Seminyak is a really beautiful property with a lot of character and detail. The Balinese decor throughout gave the grounds a unique and zen feel. This hotel has a couple different room options; we booked a villa but it wasn't available until the 2nd night of our stay. While the first room was pretty nice, we did run into a couple problems with it; the toilet didn't flush and there were a couple broken items. Luckily, we only had one night there. Once we were moved to the villa the next day, we forgot all about the average first night because of the wow-factor of our new room! It seems that the villas here are either newer or maintained with extra care.(Side note: the price was the same for the crummier room versus the villa, possibly because the villas weren't booked for our travel dates).
THIS VILLA IS AMAZING! Seriously; it pains me to leave it to explore(and I LOVE exploring). The villa has an enormous bathroom with "so much room for activities"! I could swim around in the huge, cozy bed for months. There's a kitchen area, a living room area with a large couch to sit and plan the day or collapse at the end of the day and, best of all, a private pool. The wall that faces the pool is basically all glass doors, which can be opened to make it one connected and fluid space.
A gorgeous and ornate (locked) door opens from our private pool area into the hotel's pool, restaurant, spa and lobby area. We are steps away from the outside world, all while feeling like the world is ours. We stroll out to breakfast in the morning(which is included with our stay) and then to the spa for a relaxing treatment. The hotel pool is also lovely and crystal clear; a great place to chat with other travelers and snap some photos during a meal.
Lastly, the location. We're here in Bali for my 30th birthday, so while I do plan on doing a fair share of relaxing, meditating, yoga and other wellness practices, we're still love to be near the action. Seminyak is a great place for those who like to keep it lively. Blue Karma provides a shuttle down to the beach for most of the day, but it can also be walked in 10 minutes or less. The walk is full of fun, as the main drag is lined with spas, restaurants, bars and shops. Being that this area is young, lively and somewhat touristy, the beach isn't the most beautiful of beaches. Don't be surprised to see a good amount of litter, as well as stray dogs. We like to have whatever we want within walking distance and we plan on traveling around the island and to surrounding islands for day trips, so this stay has been perfect for us.
